2. Global Teacher Training Centre for Special Education: Providing courses in special education recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).
3. Special Study Centre – Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU): Accredited in 1999 as a Special Study Centre of IGNOU (0734 D), offering open education opportunities to the physically challenged, housewives, and employed individuals to enhance their qualifications.
4. Accredited Study Centres – National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS): Providing alternative education options for students unable to cope with the CBSE syllabus, including IIIrd, Vth, VIIIth, Xth, and XIIth standards, as well as vocational courses in Cutting and Tailoring, Beauty Culture, and Data Entry Operations.

Twenty-six medical specialists volunteer their expertise to provide preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services to Amar Jyoti school children, as well as to patients from the communities and economically weaker sections, either free of cost or at subsidized rates. Our services include:

  • Child Guidance Clinic: Providing guidance and counseling for parents of children with disabilities, psychometric assessments, early identification, and intervention programs.

  • Early Intervention Programme: Offering services for developmentally delayed infants and children, including parent support groups.

  • Prosthetics & Orthotics: Providing assistant devices aids to prevent and reduce disabilities.

  • Physiotherapy: Treating around 11,000 patients annually with modalities like IFT, Laser, Ultrasound, etc.

  • Occupational Therapy: Focusing on fine motor, sensory integrative, and pre-vocational skills to enhance independence.

  • Audiology and Speech Therapy: Providing services for speech and hearing disorders to both children and adults.

We also collaborate with organizations like ALTSO (A Leg to Stand On), USA, and individual philanthropists to support the distribution of assistive devices and appliances to those in need.


Empowering Through Skills: Skill Development Training at Amar Jyoti Inclusive School

Skill development training is an integral part of the curriculum at Amar Jyoti Inclusive School, provided free of cost to all students from class III onwards. Additionally, it is offered at a nominal cost to members of the community from Economically Weaker Sections and Below Poverty Line.

 Empowering Abilities: Amar Jyoti’s Abilympics Journey

The Abilympics, initiated by Amar Jyoti in 1981, has reached greater heights over the last four decades. India hosted the International Abilympic in 2003, and the Indian team has actively participated in several international events. The activities of the National Abilympic Association of India have been transitioned to the Sarthak Educational Trust.

Amar Jyoti’s Community Impact

​For almost two decades, Amar Jyoti conducted a community-based rehabilitation program with Action Aid in 30 urban slums of Delhi. Additionally, for six years, the organization collaborated with the Narottam Sekhsaria Foundation in 10 urban slums of East Delhi.

Career Guidance and Placement

Our placement unit offers career guidance and counseling to individuals with disabilities. As part of the Times of India – Teach India Programme, we also conducted a three-month job-oriented Spoken English Certificate course over a few years.

 

 

Empowering Communities: Social Work Department at Amar Jyoti

The Social Work Department at Amar Jyoti facilitates the following activities:

Mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work students and interns.

  • Conducting home visits, providing counseling to parents of children with disabilities, and coordinating family life education.

  • Disseminating information about concessions, disability certificates, and other benefits available to Persons with Disabilities.
