Amar Jyoti School is not just a place of learning; it is a beacon of innovation in education, especially when it comes to teaching children with disabilities. Our commitment to providing a holistic education is reflected in our unique teaching methods, aimed at nurturing the talents and skills of every student.
Pre-Vocational Skill Development Training
From class III onwards, all students at Amar Jyoti receive pre-vocational skill training in various disciplines, including cutting/tailoring, art-craft, computer skills, pottery, and artificial jewelry making. These training units not only act as therapeutic sessions but also help enhance the fine motor skills and attention abilities of students with disabilities. To ensure equal participation, our computer department is equipped with adapted keyboards (with big fonts and tactile features) and JAWS software for children with visual challenges.
National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
Amar Jyoti School is accredited by the National Institute of Open Schooling, offering flexible education options for students with challenges in classes III to XII. We also run vocational courses to empower children with special needs, enabling them to complete their basic education through certified vocational courses conducted on our campus. Remedial classes for NIOS students are held in the afternoon, and practical sessions like non-fire cooking, music, and art and craft are conducted regularly.
Inclusive Sports Activities
Our commitment to inclusivity extends to sports, where three of our students, Master Fahim, Master Rishabh, and Master Dheeraj, were selected to participate in the first international wheelchair basketball championship held in Thailand. Their participation not only showcased their skills but also their indomitable spirit and enthusiasm. The students underwent training for a month in Chennai before the championship, and Master Fahim received a special mention at the valedictory function for his outstanding performance.
Inclusive Cultural and Creative Art Activities
At Amar Jyoti, we believe in the power of inclusive cultural activities to foster joy and camaraderie among our students. Students with and without disabilities actively participate in interschool events, showcasing their talents and receiving applause for their performances. Wheelchair stunts, joyful dances by students with hearing impairments, and other performances highlight the inclusivity and diversity of our school’s cultural activities.
At Amar Jyoti School, we are committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child can flourish, showcasing their talents and abilities. Our innovative teaching methods reflect our dedication to inclusivity and empowerment, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential.
