Dr. A.K. Dutta, President
With a background in science, Dr. A.K. Dutta retired as the Chief Controller from the Defence Research & Development Organisation. Since September 2002, he has been closely associated with Amar Jyoti and the National Ablympics, showcasing his remarkable contributions in organizing the international Ablympics.
Known as a “walking encyclopedia” at Amar Jyoti, Dr. Dutta continues to volunteer his services, bringing his wealth of knowledge and experience to benefit the organization and its initiatives.
Mrs. Mohini Mathur, Vice President
Mrs. Mohini Mathur is a distinguished educationist and social worker with a rich background in teaching at prestigious institutions such as I.P. College, University of Delhi, and P.M.B. College, Indore University. Her extensive experience in the field of education has been instrumental in shaping the lives of countless individuals.
Since 1988, Mrs. Mathur has been a dedicated trustee, contributing significantly to the holistic rehabilitation and educational initiatives of the organization. Her commitment to the welfare of society is further exemplified by her role as a member of the governing body of Gandhian Hindustani Sahitya Sabha, New Delhi, and her involvement in the editorial board.
Recognizing her exceptional contributions to social work, Mrs. Mathur has been honored with the Kasturba Gandhi Award, a testament to her unwavering dedication and selfless service to the community.
Dr. Uma Tuli, Founder and Managing Secretary
Dr. Uma Tuli, Padma Shri awardee, is the founder of Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust rendering rehabilitative services at Delhi and Gwalior with the holistic approach of providing inclusive education, vocational training, medical care and capacity building courses in one campus. She has a multifaceted personality of an educationist, a social worker, rehabilitation professional and a sports woman.
Dr. Tuli taught for 30 years in University Colleges of Delhi and Gwalior. While teaching, she also did her M.Ed in Special Education from Manchester University and set up a voluntary organisation in the name of Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust in Delhi and Gwalior. During her dual work at University and Amar Jyoti she was conferred Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa, from Roehampton University, London, in recognition of her extraordinary commitment to inclusivity. As a path breaker in initiating and promoting inclusive education, Dr. Tuli and her team has trained teachers of various schools, nationally and globally.
Dr. Tuli was the first non-bureaucrat who was appointed as Chief Commissioner for persons with disability by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, for a tenure of four years from 2001 – 2005.
For the meritorious services she was awarded Padma Shri and several National and International awards. She has earned laurels – nationally and internationally for her innovative initiatives in inclusive education, accessibility, employability and many new approaches for mainstreaming persons with disabilities with the vision of equal opportunities and full participation.
